About Jason
I am dedicated to supporting Christian individuals and couples in the challenges they face as sojourners living in a fallen world. I began my career as a secular counsellor, after obtaining a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and certification as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCPA), and embarked on what I expected would be a fulfilling career in counselling. However, as I engaged more deeply with the theoretical foundations and empirical literature underlying secular counselling approaches, I found myself facing an uncomfortable reality. The evidence supporting the effectiveness of secular psychological models was less compelling than I had been led to believe. The promised outcomes and transformative results often fell short in clinical practice. More importantly, I began to recognise that many secular frameworks operated from worldviews fundamentally disconnected from spiritual truth and the reality of God's active presence in human suffering and healing.

This tension led me to a crucial reexamination of my own faith and the sufficiency of God's Word. I came to understand that Scripture is not merely a spiritual supplement to be added alongside psychological theory—it is the comprehensive, authoritative source of wisdom for addressing the deepest issues of the human soul. The Bible contains everything necessary for faith and life, including the guidance needed to help people navigate their most pressing struggles. God's revelation is sufficient not because it contains every technical detail about neuroscience or diagnostic categories, but because it addresses the fundamental questions of meaning, purpose, identity, and transformation that lie at the root of human suffering.

I also came to understand an important distinction: while biblical counselling is grounded in Scripture and speaks powerfully to those who embrace Christ as Lord, I recognise that for individuals who have not yet accepted Jesus as their Saviour, secular counselling methods may still provide some practical benefit for immediate life challenges. However, such approaches can only offer surface-level help. Genuine, transformative change—the kind that addresses the deepest needs of the human soul—is possible only when people turn to Christ and build their lives on the foundation of His gospel. My conviction is that the most compassionate response is to help people understand this spiritual reality and invite them into the fuller healing that comes through faith in Christ.

Making the transition to biblical counselling represented both a professional shift and a spiritual conviction. I recognised that the secular psychological establishment, despite its claims to scientific rigour, cannot ultimately address the deepest needs of troubled people—their need for reconciliation with God, transformation of heart, and genuine hope grounded in the person and work of Christ. In contrast, biblical counselling offers what secular approaches cannot: a Christ-centred framework rooted in the power of the gospel, pointing people not to therapeutic techniques but to Jesus as their ultimate Counsellor and source of lasting change.

Recognising my need for additional training, I enrolled in graduate courses at the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF) and Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. My practice is now built on the foundation that effective counselling must be gospel-centred and Christ-focused. I help people understand their struggles within the larger narrative of Scripture—creation, fall, redemption, and restoration—because true healing happens when we see our lives through God's redemptive story rather than merely through the lens of symptom management or self-actualisation.

My Approach
My approach to biblical counselling is grounded in the conviction that Scripture is sufficient and profoundly relevant for addressing the deepest struggles of the human soul. I believe that lasting transformation comes not through human wisdom alone, but through the power of the gospel applied to every aspect of life—our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors.

Christ-Centered Foundation
At the heart of my counseling practice is Jesus Christ and the good news of what he has accomplished through his life, death, and resurrection. I recognize that every person is created in God's image with inherent dignity and worth, yet we all struggle with the effects of living in a fallen world—suffering, sin, broken relationships, and inner turmoil. My role as a biblical counsellor is to point people to Christ as the ultimate source of hope, healing, and transformation, helping them understand how the gospel speaks directly into their pain and confusion.

Compassionate and Relational
Biblical counselling is not merely about dispensing information or correcting behavior—it's about relationship. Following the apostle Paul's example in 1 Thessalonians 2:8, I seek to share not only the truth of God's Word but my own life as well, because those I counsel have become dear to me. I strive to create a safe environment where people feel genuinely heard, understood, and loved, while gently and firmly pointing them toward biblical truth and Christ-like change.

Professionally Grounded and Integrative
My journey through both secular and biblical counselling training uniquely positions me to serve clients with depth and compassion. My Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and professional credentials provide me with understanding of clinical concepts, psychological principles, and evidence-based interventions that have proven helpful in addressing human suffering. However, my training in biblical counselling has shown me that these tools, while sometimes useful, are ultimately insufficient without the foundation of Scripture. I have learned to integrate the clinical skills and insights from secular psychology—such as assessment techniques, communication strategies, and understanding of human development—with the authority and power of God's Word. This integration allows me to meet clients where they are, speak their language when helpful, and employ practical methods that serve their immediate wellbeing, while always directing them toward the deeper healing and transformation that only Christ can provide.

Holistic and Practical
I believe that God's Word addresses the whole person—heart, mind, emotions, and actions. My counselling approach explores not just surface behaviors but the deeper heart issues—the beliefs, desires, and motivations that drive our choices. Together, we examine how God's truth can renew our thinking, redirect our affections, and empower us to live in ways that honour him and lead to genuine flourishing. This involves practical application of Scripture to real-life situations, helping people develop new patterns of thinking and living that reflect their identity in Christ.

Community-Oriented
Change happens best in the context of Christian community. While I provide individual counselling, I also recognize the vital role of the local church in the healing and sanctification process. Biblical counseling is not meant to replace the body of Christ but to serve within it, connecting people to the broader support, encouragement, and accountability available through authentic Christian fellowship.

Hope-Filled
Above all, my approach is characterized by hope—not the uncertain "hope-so" of human optimism, but the confident expectation rooted in God's character and promises. No matter how difficult the struggle, I believe that God is sovereign, present, and working all things together for the good of those who love him. My goal is to help people discover that their deepest needs for significance and security are fully met in Christ, enabling them to face life's challenges with faith, courage, and joy.
